BiD NETWORK
In Uganda, IRIS is the National Partner for BiD Network, an international organisation headquartered in Amsterdam and operating in 17 countries. BiD Network, provides technical support to starting and growing SMEs, preparing emerging market entrepreneurs for investors. BiD Network is a network of over 40,000 members (entrepreneurs, investors, coaches).
IRIS and BiD have worked together since 2012, implementing SME development projects in Uganda and the East African region, bringing potential investors nearer to SMEs seeking financing and preparing entrepreneurs for investment readiness.
Since August 2014 BiD Network and IRIS Consulting have managed the IFDC Agribusiness Challenge targeting 5 most important crop value chains: low land rice in Eastern Uganda, sunflower, soya bean and cassava in Northern Uganda and solanum potatoes in the South West. INTERNATIONAL FERTILIZER DEVELOPMENT CENTRE
The International Fertilizer Development Centre (IFDC) CATALIST-Uganda programme offered us the opportunity to customise material and train trainers in Farming as a Business for IFDC staff and implementing partner organisations.
ENTERPRISE UGANDA
IRIS is privileged to work with Enterprise Uganda, Uganda’s national centre for SMEs, as call-up consultant, trainer and mentor since 2012.
MTAC UGANDA
In 2011 we worked with the Management Training and Advisory Centre to facilitate a training in Business Counselling for MTAC senior staff.
In Uganda’s capital city, Kampala, there are many nice places for food, drink, conferencing and socialisation.

PIATO RESTAURANT
Piato Restaurant, bang in the middle of Kampala, on Lumumba Avenue next to the French Embassy, is venue for the IRIS BizDrink – a B2B and Investor-Entrepreneur socialising event happening every odd month of the year. Everyone is welcome - by invitation only.
You can sponsor a business / businesses that you are interested in byspecifying the sector and scope of business of choice. IRIS would then organise a time bound request for business plans and collect and collate suitable business ideas for you, and you can choose to then lend money online to that enterprise, you can "invest in a business" and help the budding entrepreneurs make great strides towards economic independence. Throughout the course of the loan (usually 6-12 months), you can receive monthly email updates that let you know about the progress being made by the small business you’ve sponsored. These updates include reports on loan repayment progress, photos of new capital equipment, narratives on business growth and standard of living improvements, and more. As loans are repaid, a revolving loan fund can be created, or you will get your original loan money back. IRIS will charge a facilitation fee.
As a Sponsor an activity, a programme or a person. You can partner with us to bring economically liberating knowledge to hundreds by financing a training, in our entrepreneurial modules, such as, Farming as a Business, Management of Smallholder Associations or Business Opportunity Identification and Sources of Resources.
You can partner with IRIS in various ways. We spend time building relationships with various brands, relationships that culminate in mutually beneficial outcomes to both parties, as well as the entrepreneurs we facilitate. We can train your staff. We can host our various events in your business establishment thus pulling customers to you, and you provide the premises at a subsidised rate. We can do market research for you. We can give you visibility and promote your brand as you pay for the training of rural entrepreneurs. So many ways. Get in touch with us and let's talk.
The IRIS mentor should be an entrepreneur with business experience/wisdom to share. You can sign up and be involved in selecting an entrepreneur to nurture in a similar industry to yours or any other.
We encourage volunteers to join us. Particularly those who are interested in starting their own businesses.We encourage young people to volunteer with IRIS and IRIS supported businesses so as to facilitate the honing of practical skills in agri-business.

You can sign up with IRIS as a volunteer coach. Our coaches are seasoned entrepreneurs and/or experts in their fields who are willing to put in some hours of volunteer time regularly to assist budding entrepreneurs to refine their business ideas and plans. You can also sign up on the BiD Network platform. Coaching can be online or face to face, depending on proximity and other circumstances.
